Governance at Harold Court

All governing bodies of maintained schools are required to be constituted under the School Governance (Constitution) (England) Regulations 2012 or the School Governance (Federations) (England) Regulations 2012, as appropriate, by 1 September 2015. At Harold Court this took place in the Summer term 2015. Information about Statutory guidance for governing bodies of maintained schools and local authorities in England can be found here.

The Governing Body exists to support and contribute to the strategic development plan of our school. Whilst the Headteacher is responsible for the day-to-day management and leadership of the school, the Governing Body are involved with overseeing the curriculum, pupil welfare, premises, personnel and school finances at a strategic level. We are fortunate to have a dedicated team of governors who are actively involved in the life of the school.

The Governing Body is composed of the Headteacher, parents, staff and members of the local community. When the term of office of a parent governor comes to an end, elections take place to replace them.

The National Governance association provides all information that you may need if you would like to become a governor https://www.nga.org.uk/Be-a-Governor.aspx, they provide a handbook also https://www.nga.org.uk/Publications/Welcome-to-Governance-Resources.aspx.

If you wish to bring any matters to the attention of the Governing Body, you should address your correspondence to: Chair of Governors,C/O Harold Court Primary School, Church Road, Harold Wood, Essex, RM3 0SH
